Alpine Halo 9 inch

The Halo9 is a floating stereo with a 9 inch touchscreen. This stereo upgrade has a large screen that sits proud of the dash and can be accessed by the driver and passenger.

It features a high resolution 1280 x 720p WXGA display with crips icons and menu selection. This stereo is like a tablet and will modernise any car or van without a large screen.

The unit can fit in a 1 DIN or 2 DIN slots. It is fitted with a dedicated facia kit which takes the weight of the head unit. With a 1 DIN space the stereo will sit higher up with bottom half recessed into the car dash, with a 2 DIN space a blanking plate is used to cover the top half of the recess (as shown in the video).

The term ‘floating’ means that the stereo appears to hover. It is actually fixed in place at the time of installation, in one of 5 vertical adjustments available. This means that the screen can be made to sit upright even if the car dash is curved and avoid glare from sun light.

Spotify and Google Maps

Connect to your phone and access compatible Apps for music and mapping. The stereo ‘Works with Apple CarPlay’ and connects wirelessly through Bluetooth for iPhone users. Customers with Android phones will need to connect physically to the system via one of the USB inputs.

Once connected customers can access Waze for mapping, Google Maps, Spotify for music, Amazon Prime Music and any similar compatible Apps. These will automatically become available once the phone is paired and are then the only App icons displayed on the Halo9 screen.

Once customers start using these Apps, they appear to become part of the driving experience and work seamlessly.

Bluetooth Calls and Voice Activation

The Bluetooth calls function works with any phone type. The current Bluetooth profile means your phone book is automatically synchronized and caller display becomes visible on the display.

When using an iPhone the Siri function is also available. This means that calls can be received via voice activation, but also that text messages can be read out by the system.

DAB Radio

DAB stands for Digital Audio Broadcast. DAB is a modern way of accessing radio and enables more stations to be accessed. Also, in general the digital signal improves the sound quality received. However, if the vehicle drives into a DAB blackspot i.e. no signal is received, then the stereo will play no sound. The sound then returns instantly when a signal is received.

In most cities the DAB signal is strong with signal drop out most likely taking place in remote areas.

With the Alpine Halo9, DAB stations can be saved into memory presets with 3 x 12 slots available.

Halo9 iLX-F905D Built-in Class-D Amplifier

The Halo9 iLX-F905D is one of the first stereos to feature a Class-D Amplifier. It has a 4x 50 Watts Class-D Amp giving excellent, high end sound reproduction. It also has high-speed fans with internal heat sinks to cool the stereo system.

Retaining the Vehicle Information

With some modern vehicles the original display is used to adjust vehicle information. An example of this is resetting the time for daylight saving or resetting tyre pressure. These settings can be retained with the new Alpine stereo.

In the video Inti shows how to access the vehicle information directly from the Alpine halo 9. It gives a crude menu system, but easy to use and fully functioning.
