Speaker Upgrade
A speaker upgrade can improve the sound quality in your vehicle. We replace the original paper cones for components or coaxial as required.

Components or Coaxial Speakers?
Vehicle speakers either come in sets of components or coaxial.
Components typically have a 6.5 inch midbass cone with a separate 2 inch tweeter, with one set for each door. Components also require a crossover box to split the signal between the two speaker units.
Coaxial speakers have the tweeter integrated into the midbass cone. This defines the ‘coaxial’ term with two circles rotating around one axis. For this type of speaker there is no need for a crossover as it is a self-contained unit.
To determine if you need components or coaxial speakers look at your present car doors and dash. If there are 2 separate speaker grills and you can hear sound from both then usually this means components. If unsure then please bring in your vehicle for expert advice.
Car Specific Speakers
We also supply and install car specific speaker replacement kits. These are usually produced by aftermarket manufacturers for commonly upgraded vehicles. Ford Transit and VW Transporter are typical, however other car makes are available.
Blown Paper Cones
Speaker upgrades are often necessary for blown paper cones. When cars are manufactured the speakers are not a major consideration – mainly because they are hidden from view! They are usually poor quality paper cones that are prone to moisture impregnation. These then crumble over time.
Here the sound will hiss and distort as the cone moves in and out. Without an intact cone the sound pressure is not correctly achieved and the inevitable result is poor sound quality.
The only way forward here is to change both speakers even though it may be that one original speaker is worse than the other.
Aim for Better Sound
Changing the doors speakers is the first step to better sound in your vehicle. Sometimes the original speakers are not blown but just poor quality. In this case a speaker upgrade can achieve better sound from your original car stereo. Here we would recommend a medium priced solution as high quality speaker may require a higher quality head unit and/or their own amp.
Please bring in your vehicle for a more accurate solution.
Missing Rear Speakers
Please be aware that sometimes cars can be manufactured missing the rear speakers. The best initial test is to see if there is sound coming from either grill. It may be that both are not working but unlikely, and without original speakers there is no wiring for new speakers. In some cases we can add wiring but this would be at additional cost.
We can also add amps and subs at the same time or as the next step.
Time Required
The time required depends on the vehicle and what the customer is looking to achieve. A basic door speaker replacement would take a morning or an afternoon with more custom solutions taking longer.
Please be advised we do recommend some level of sound deadening. This avoids distortion from the new speakers.
