The Thinkware Dash Cam Q850 is a front facing dashcam. This is a 2k camera and provides evidence recording in the event of an accident.

This front dash cam has an updated sleek design that lays flat on the front windscreen. We mount the camera to the left of the rear view mirror, meaning it is largely hidden from the drivers view.

No interaction is required day-to-day, however should an incident occur then footage can be downloaded or pulled from the SD memory card.

In our opinion Thinkware Dashcams are the best on the market. They are well designed and provide less interference problems in cars and vans. When it comes to cameras you get what you pay for and that is why we install Thinkware as standard.

For this reason we do not install other brands, and because of warranty issues we only fit products supplied by us.

This is a 2K QHD camera with 30 frames per second and crystal clear video footage. The extra size allows more detailed recording and more opportunities to determine numberplates and other details.

The camera works in daylight or night conditions and has Super Night Vision 2.0. This feature brightens the image making the footage appear as if it has been shot at twilight times of the day, rather than the actual dead of night.

High Dynamic Range attempts to limit glare associated with night time viewing, however this may be limited by your car’s forward facing headlights which automatically illuminate registration plates.

These cameras provide continuous recoding mode automatically on engine start up. All our dashcams are installed hardwired and work without driver intervention, meaning they are fit-and-forget devices.

Should an incident occur it is important to remember the time, especially the minute of time. This is because all footage is recorded in minute slots and locating a video is easier if you can say is was ’11 mins past the hour’. Often the hour is obvious but when you look back later determining the minute it took place is more difficult.

Footage can be downloaded to your phone by using the Bluetooth App or by removing the SD card and placing it into a computer.

You can only use Thinkware SD cards in these cameras. They are formatted in a certain way that can only be provided by Thinkware. Generally the SD cards are more expensive than other brands, but if a larger card is required it must be a Thinkware.

Video footage takes up a lot of space. They record until the card is full and then overwrite the oldest footage in a looping manner. If other SD cards are used then the continuous looping stops working as the card is not formatted correctly.

For this reason, should a video clip need to be saved it is essential to do this as soon as possible to avoid the data being overwritten.
